Breaking records within the music industry scene is becoming a daily habit for Peso Pluma. No so long ago, the corridos tumbados singer achieved a remarkable accomplishment by surpassing English artist Adele in terms of Spotify listeners. He was also the most listened-to artist in the world, with more than 52 million monthly listeners.
No one can deny that he’s becoming a true icon of Regional Mexican Music and corridos tumbados genre and his influence has already transcended his music.
His collaboration with Colombian artist Ryan Castro is a Reggaeton del viejito or de la vieja escuela song that has debuted on Billboard‘s Hot 100 List at no. 92. According to Luminate, it accumulated an impressive 6.1 million official US streams and has sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week of July 14-20. This achievement marks the first time ever for the Colombian artist to enter the prestigious list.
Additionally, the song makes an entry at No. 21 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. Ryan Castro is relatively new to the Billboard charts, making his debut in January 2022 with his song ‘Mujeriego’. This track reached No. 33 on Hot Latin Songs, as well as No. 94 on U.S. and No. 125 on the Global 200.
The video clip was filmed in Guadalajara, same state where the Double P was born, and as a highlight of Mexican culture, some mariachis can be seen in the video.
Another interesting detail that can be seen in the video is Peso Pluma’s teeth, a dental prosthetic apparently valued at 58 thousand dollars.
Braggao, a Mexican jewelry store known for creating designs for renowned figures in the artistic world like rapper Gera MX, Christian Nodal, and Cazzu, made the Double P design. The process involved an entire dental molding process to perfectly sculpt the teeth to match Doble P’s dental features, and the diamonds were individually placed on each tooth of the dental prosthesis.
It should be noted that the singer can put it on and take it off at any time he wants, because the precious stones were not added directly to his real teeth.
Here’s the official music video and lyrics of Ryan Castro and Peso Pluma’s collab.
Qué chimba SOG
Ghetto Star
Zaga
La Doble P
Zaga zaga zaga zau
Soy tu cantante, nene travieso
I love you (Pu), qué chimba de view (Pu-pu; ja, ja, ah)
Soy tu cantante, nene travieso
I love you, cómo se ve el tattoo
I love you, vámono’ pa’ Tulum
