Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia was born on February 20, 2003, in Temecula, California. While growing up in Murrieta, a neighboring city in Riverside County, she discovered her passion for acting before eventually relocating to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams in the entertainment industry.

Her television debut was in an Old Navy ad at the age of 12. At just 13 years old, she starred in a Disney show as a guitarist in the series Bizaardvark in 2016. She then became a teenager sensation around the world with her role in the cast of High School Musical.

While Olivia’s acting career earned her recognition and followers, but it was her song Driver’s License, and after her debut album Sour, that catapulted her into international stardom. The song could be heard everywhere in Tik Tok back in 2021 and it quickly skyrocketed to the top of various music charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying Olivia Rodrigo’s place as a rising music sensation.

Vampire

As said in the LOS40 interview, Vampire is a song that possesses a dynamic range, taking you on a journey from high to low (a constant crescendo), which is something that she loves to do, in part because of her dramatic history in acting. With this song she could express her emotions (anger and rebellion), something that she has been doing in most of her songs.

One of the reasons why people identify so much with Olivia’s songs is, probably, because she expresses feelings and emotions that we all feel, but that we often have to keep quiet about. Also, as said to LOS40, because she’s real and writes what she feels, so her lyrics are honest.

Guts vs Sour

Olivia talked about how different the album was creative processes, as she was quite young in the first one and how naïve she felt back then. Now, she feels with much more experience and confidence about her and her music.

In Sour she poured her broken heart out and wrote everything she was feeling. Guts, demonstrated her discipline and maturity in creating a highly anticipated album, even when inspiration may not have come naturally.
