The Grammy-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo is set to release her new album titled GUTS on September 8 through Geffen Records. Collaborating once again with producer Daniel Nigro, who worked with her on her highly successful debut album SOUR, certified 4x Platinum and chart-topping, Rodrigo keeps unveiling new details about her long-awaited music comeback.
«This album revolves around the challenges of personal growth and the process of self-discovery in the present phase of my life. It feels like I went through a decade of experiences between the ages of 18 and 20, a time of intense unfamiliarity and transformation. I believe it’s all an inherent part of growing up, and I hope the album reflects that journey,» she revealed on her upcoming drop.
The album’s debut single, ‘vampire,’ showcases Rodrigo’s remarkable growth and confident artistry and will be released on Friday, June 30.
A Stellar Trajectory
Since the release of her immensely successful and iconic single ‘drivers license’ in January 2021, Olivia Rodrigo has captivated audiences with her unwavering honesty. The song debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and set a historic record as the first track to reach 80 million streams in just seven days on Spotify (crazy!). It also achieved 5x Platinum certification in the U.S. and sweep international charts, becoming a global sensation. The triple Platinum ‘deja vu’ and the 4x Platinum Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping hit ‘good 4 u’ further heightened anticipation (yes, even more) for her debut album.
In this sense, SOUR made an impressive entry at number 1 on the Billboard 200 and secured its position as the longest-charting debut album within the top 10 of the 21st century, spending an entire year at the summit. The album also achieved number 1 debuts in the UK, Canada, Ireland, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. SOUR’s success extended to becoming the most streamed debut album released by a female artist in the U.S. and breaking the record for the highest number of album streams in a single week on Spotify.
Rodrigo Olivia Rodrigo’s exceptional talent has been also recognized with seven Grammy nominations in all four major categories; at the 64th edition, she triumphed as the winner of Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. In addition, she has been honored as New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, Woman of the Year at the 2022 Women in Music Awards presented by Billboard, and Songwriter of the Year at both the ASCAP Pop Music Awards and the Variety Hitmakers.
