After months of dedicated effort, Maluma is back with a fresh vibe, and it’s revealing a more sentimental side. That’s why he’s taken a moment to express his genuine gratitude towards both his fans and life itself –the very force that’s allowed him to live his dream.

Today, on August 25, 2023, Don Juan, Maluma’s eagerly awaited new album, has finally been realesed. The singer had been counting down to this day for what felt like forever, and the excitement has him admittedly a bit on edge, as he openly shared on his social media.

«I debated whether to drop a few words before everything unfolds, before the album hits the scene, but I believe it’s worth it,» the singer began explaining a few hours before Don Juan officially launched. «They say a bit of nervousness can be countered by talking things out. And, well, I’m really jumpy about this, but also genuinely happy. It’s like this mix of excitement and tranquility,» confessed ‘Papi Juancho’.

Pouring so much heart and soul into something naturally comes with the worry that it all pans out. «I’ve poured my heart and soul, a truckload of sweat, into reaching this point. And at day’s end, I’m humbly grateful to God for letting me make a living out of what I love. It’s a tale not everyone gets to spin,» Maluma candidly admitted.

For this remarkable release, the artist chose nothing less than Medellín, the Colombian city where he was born and raised, as the setting.

«I just want to seize this unique moment –it’s not my regular camera spiel,» the artist explained. «This is a personal moment, from Juan Luis to my fans spread all over the globe. I want to pour out my love for them and let them in on how music has given me these unforgettable, beautiful moments. And I’m looking to keep that alive,» he underscored. «I want to keep spinning these beautiful tales. And someday, pass them down to my kids, my grandkids,» a visibly moved Maluma shared, right into the camera lens.

Life’s dealt me a good hand, feeling a bit nostalgic, and I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone. Thank you for it all. Today’s the day Don Juan steps out, an exceptionally special album straight from Medellín, Colombia, my hometown. So, thank you.”

Don Juan brings together a total of 19 tracks, plus six bonus pieces that have already taken the Colombian artist to international spotlight, earning millions of listens on digital platforms.

Speaking of the production and creative work, Maluma’s joined forces with big names like The Rudeboyz, Romeo Santos, Ovy On The Drums, Marc Anthony, DJ Luian, and Mambo Kings, just to name a few.

And, let’s not overlook the collaborations –undoubtedly one of the album’s high points. ‘Papi Juancho’ has brought onboard renowned names like Yandel, Don Omar, Jowell y Randy, Marc Anthony, and Carín León, all contributing to his new masterpiece.

‘Black Sunglasses,’ an Unexpected Twist

But the real surprise, even if it wasn’t exactly a shocker to some, came with «Gafas Negras» (Black Sunglasses). A few days back, Maluma unveiled the album’s tracklist, deliberately keeping this track hidden. «Gafas Negras» features a dynamic collaboration with J Balvin, though it’s a tune we’re still eagerly waiting to groove to on streaming platforms.

What’s intriguing is that during the album launch bash in Medellín, the Colombians took the opportunity to shoot the music video right there and then, stunning the attendees. Additionally, Maluma has confirmed that, for the immediate time being, the song won’t be available as part of the album.

While we might not be able to dive into «Gafas Negras» just yet, the rest of the album is ready for the listening –so, without a second thought, go ahead and immerse yourself in Maluma’s brand-new, electrifying work!
