In this special program, our host Tony Aguilar has featured one of the most important stars in the international Spanish-speaking scene, Juanes, who has just released his new album, ‘Vida Cotidiana’. He connected telematically with LOS40’s central studio to discuss the ins and outs of this work, which was born during the pandemic and marks a return to the artist’s original sound.

Watch the full interview with Juanes on LOS40 Global Show below:

Creating New Music During the Pandemic

«I am delighted to present this new album to all the fans and the world. The album consists of eleven songs that delve into personal relationships. It is a very soulful album, and I am thrilled to reconnect with rock, pop, and elements of Caribbean music», Juanes states.

According to the Colombian hitmaker, his new album is the result of an extensive process of introspection during the pandemic.

«I composed the songs on the album during the pandemic. It was a time when I could sit down and compose. Despite the strangeness of that time, it provided me with extra time to create music and be with my wife and children at home. These experiences influenced the songs, capturing moments of coexistence with my family, conflicts, dealing with my children’s adolescence, and other honest aspects of life»

.’Veneno’, First Collab with his Son, Dante:

«It’s the first time I’ve worked with my little son on my music. He appears as the protagonist in the music video, where he simulates the fight between David and Goliath. The song explores toxic relationships and our struggles with our inner child. It was a very emotional experience to collaborate with my family on this project», Juanes states about his song ‘Veneno’.

The Lighter Track

«‘Más‘ is a song I composed at home. The music is very danceable and lively. I collaborated with Tommy Torres on the lyrics, and together we created this song about the never-ending desire for more. It’s the most upbeat song on the album».

Working with Friends

«I’ve had an incredible experience working with my friends, who play 99% of the album. They’ve been my collaborators for five years now, and together we infused the album with our souls».

Upcoming Tour in Europe, Latin America & the U.S.

«We will start our tour in Europe in September, including performances in Spain. In October, we will visit Mexico and Colombia, and we have planned performances in the United States at the end of the year».
