Cardi B Confirms «No More Collabs» & Considers Mexican Artist Cover

Surprisingly, the rapper affirmed that Mexican television and music have truly influenced her throughout her life

Cardi B is an artist known not only for her music but also for having a tough, fierce character, always ready for a battle. And if anyone happens to not know her, they can simply watch the video of the incident in Las Vegas when someone threw a drink at the singer during a live concert… 

However, this is perfectly understood, given that she grew up in one of the most famous neighborhoods in New York: the Bronx. And as mentioned in her most recent Vogue article, she has shown that a lifetime dedicated to struggle can also be transformed into art. 

Recently, Cardi announced that she won’t be releasing more music collaborations, even though this has been an important element of her discography. Naturally, fans –and the public in general– were intrigued by this. 

     I’m not going to release any more collaborations; I’m going to release my next single as a solo artist. I’m working on the cover and ideas for the next album because it’s definitely coming soon. Everyone always tells me I should release the album already, but I always let them know that I won’t wait too long to put it out after all these singles” –she told Vogue Mexico and Latin America.

Her choice to distance herself from collaborations aligns with her dedication to provide fresh music directly to her fan base.

However, the rapper made an even more surprising statement: Mexican television and music have been important parts of her life, which have truly influenced her throughout her life. 

     There were many Mexican telenovelas I watched when I was young, and I learned love lessons from them” –she said.

Maybe Cardi took some of the drama from the telenovelas and made it a part of her personality. But returning to music, she mentioned that she likes Peso Pluma, but adores iconic artists such as Ana Gabriel, Luis Miguel, and Rocío Durcal (who, despite being Spanish, is a Mexican music icon). 

In fact, she stated that if she ever decides to do a cover, it would be one by Ana Gabriel. She promised that when this cover is released, she will do a live video and perform a song by the Mexican artist.
