After several months of hearing about the soundtrack created by Mark Ronson specifically for the Barbie movie, there was one last song and one last artist to be revealed. What no one imagined is that Billie Eilish would be chosen to star in this new hit. The singer has confirmed it through her official social media profiles. ‘What Was I Made For’ is the title of this song, which will be released on July 13.

The excitement of the singer in revealing this first unreleased song of 2023 couldn’t be greater: «AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 🧸🎀🩰💗“What Was I Made For?” COMING OUT JULY 13TH AT 7AM PT. !!!!!!!! 🙈🥰 WE MADE THIS SONG FOR BARBIE AND IT MEANS THE ABSOLUTE WORRRRLLLD TO ME. Like almost all kids of her generation, the doll has also played an important role in Billie Eilish’s life, as Mark Ronson revealed when he started dropping hints about this imminent release. We will see if, like Dua Lipa and ‘Dance the night,’ Billie Eilish also has a role in the production. She has already shown us her acting skills on the small screen, so why wouldn’t she make the jump to the silver screen?

The «B» of Barbie and Billie takes center stage in the singer’s big announcement, and she will also be appearing on the next episode of Saturday Night Live to promote the release. As we said, the promotional machine for the movie is leaving nothing to chance, and its presence in the media is making it one of the big releases not only of the summer but of the entire year 2023.

The film, directed by Greta Gerwing, will premiere on July 21st in theaters worldwide. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, it will feature a long list of cameos, from Dua Lipa and Helen Mirren to Nicola Coughlan and Michael Cera.
