Beyoncé always takes the world by storm, but this time Mother Nature took it a bit too seriously. On August 6th, fans who attended a show as part of her Renaissance World Tour were met with some intimidating weather conditions at FedEx Field in North Englewood, Maryland.
The artist’s performance was affected and delayed due to the heavy rainfall that fell over the city and poured down on and around the stadium. Consequently, a shelter warning was issued around 6:30 p.m. ET. FedEx Field’s official X (Twitter) account provided fans with instructions on how to proceed.
Due to lightning in the area, we are currently under a shelter in place order.
Fans outside of gates and in the parking lots are asked to return to their cars.

As the storm raged above, around 50,000 concertgoers were forced to take refuge indoors. However, around 8:25 p.m., the signal for safety was given, granting the green light for the scheduled concert to continue, making it a moment of immense relief and joy for the fans

Naturally, the concert commenced later than scheduled, leading to a delayed conclusion. Beyoncé displayed her concern for her devoted fans who had endured the waiting, ensuring their safety even after the event. To honor this commitment, the Renaissance Tour team paid $100,000 to extend the operating hours of Washington, D.C. Metro stations by an additional hour for the thousands of fans that use public transit.
“Due to inclement weather that may delay the start of tonight’s Renaissance World Tour at FedExField, Metro will extend the last train by an extra hour beyond the extended closing previously announced,” the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said in a statement. “The extended time means the #BeyHive can stay for the ‘Party’ and still get home on Metro.”

The final train from Morgan Boulevard, the station nearest to the concert venue, departed at 1:04 a.m., which was less than an hour after Beyoncé concluded her performance. This departure time differed significantly from the usual 11:34 p.m. scheduled final train for the Metro.
Of course, fans were grateful for this beautiful display of humanity.
