The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is facing significant setbacks during its U.S. run. Until recently, Shakira’s North American tour had been smooth and successful, but in the past few days, several shows—including those in Boston and Washington—had to be canceled due to a situation that could have endangered the safety of both the artist and her audience.
According to promoter Live Nation, “During a routine inspection ahead of Shakira’s scheduled show at Fenway Park in Boston, structural elements were identified that did not meet the required safety standards.” While no specific details were given about the stage setup, the issue was serious enough to warrant canceling the concert, which was expected to draw tens of thousands of fans. Rumors suggested that Wyclef Jean and Will.I.Am were set to appear as special guests at the show.
As if that weren’t enough bad news, just hours later, her next performance in the U.S. capital was also canceled. Shakira was supposed to kick off the musical events for Pride celebrations in Washington, D.C., but the inability to transport her equipment following the Boston cancellation made it impossible.
On social media, the singer expressed deep regret over the situation but emphasized that safety comes first: “Nothing is more painful for an artist than having to cancel sold-out stadium shows, like those in Boston and Washington, for reasons beyond one’s control. Thank you for being there in the good times and the not-so-good. We’ve navigated every bump in the road together, and you’ve always helped me through. I love you all deeply.”
Despite the unexpected cancellations, the tour’s promoter is already working to reschedule the missed shows. In the meantime, Live Nation has confirmed that all ticket holders will receive refunds.

The response from Washington, D.C. has been understanding and even heartfelt. The city’s mayor publicly invited Shakira to return whenever she can, saying:
“Shakira, come here. You have the rest of the week to make it. Come here, we love you. We want to see you. We want to work and party with you.”
