Lorde recently surprised fans with her single ‘What Was That,’ and after much anticipation, she’s finally shared the news everyone’s been waiting for. The New Zealand artist has officially announced her fourth studio album, titled Virgin, which will be released on June 27, as revealed on her official website.
Although she’s one of the most beloved artists of the past decade, Lorde has released just two full-length albums so far: Pure Heroine (2013), which launched her into international fame, and Solar Power (2021). Now, after years of speculation, her new album is finally on the way — a project fans had long suspected was coming.
Lorde also revealed the album cover, and it’s sparked plenty of buzz. Staying true to her mysterious aesthetic, the artwork features a blue-toned X-ray of a pelvis, with a zipper and an IUD visible within the bones. It’s a bold, thought-provoking image that aligns perfectly with the album’s title, Virgin.

Lorde has revealed the collaborators who worked with her on this new LP, and the list includes several familiar names from her earlier projects: Jim-E Stack, Fabiana Palladino, Andrew Aged, Buddy Ross, Dan Nigro, and Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. Alongside the album announcement, Lorde shared a few thoughtful words, describing — almost poetically — the journey that led her to this new body of work.
“The colour of the album is clear. Like bathwater, windows, ice, spit. Full transparency. The language is plain and unsentimental. The sounds are the same wherever possible. I was trying to see myself, all the way through. I was trying to make a document that reflected my femininity: raw, primal, innocent, elegant, openhearted, spiritual, masc.”
This marks her first release since 2021’s Solar Power, an album where she experimented with psychedelic sounds and captured a deeply introspective moment in her life. Now, fans eagerly await to hear what direction she’s taken with this next chapter in her career.
