On July 19, 2025, the island of Ibiza — globally renowned for its vibrant party scene — became the setting for a deeply troubling event. Michele Noschese, the Italian DJ better known as DJ Godzi, died under suspicious circumstances during a party at his residence. He was just 35 years old.
According to reports from the Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera, DJ Godzi had been living in Ibiza for over a decade. That night, he hosted a large gathering at his home, drawing significant attention from the neighborhood due to the high volume of music. Disturbed by the noise, several neighbors contacted local authorities.
The Guardia Civil (a national police force in Spain responsible for maintaining public order and safety) arrived at the scene in response to the complaints. What happened next is unclear, but according to early accounts, an altercation broke out between officers and attendees. Allegedly, during this confrontation, one of the agents struck DJ Godzi.

In a statement to La Repubblica, DJ Godzi’s father claimed that several partygoers witnessed the incident and reported that Michele had been punched three times without apparent provocation. These testimonies, if verified, could play a critical role in the investigation.
The DJ’s record label, Mood Child Art, mourned his passing publicly on social media:
“We are truly saddened by this news. Michele had a kind heart and became part of the Mood family when he released his track Love This Game with Mood Edits.”
As investigations unfold, the music world grieves a talented artist whose life ended too soon and under circumstances still clouded in uncertainty. DJ Godzi’s legacy, both as a musician and a beloved member of the Ibiza community, is now entangled with a pursuit for truth and justice.
This is not the only recent tragedy in the electronic music scene. In recent days, a large fire broke out on Tomorrowland’s Main Stage. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
