Singer and Actress Angie Stone Tragically Dies in a Car Accident

She was also known for her role in the film The Hot Chick

This 2025 has brought several heartbreaking losses that no one saw coming. Among them are Michelle Trachtenberg, Mexican icon Paquita la del Barrio, and legendary actor Gene Hackman. Now, we’ve learned of another devastating loss—the talented Grammy-nominated singer and actress, Angie Stone.

Sadly, she passed away in a tragic car accident early Saturday morning in Alabama. Angie Stone, known for hits like ‘No More Rain (In This Cloud)’ and ‘Wish I Didn’t Miss You,’ as well as her role in The Hot Chick, didn’t survive the crash. Her death leaves a huge void in the music industry and the world of R&B, where her voice and legacy will always be remembered.

According to her manager, Walter Millsap III, the artist was on her way to Atlanta after performing at a carnival event in Mobile, Alabama. While traveling on Interstate 65, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van she was in overturned, and just seconds later, it was hit by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck.

Authorities confirmed that Angie was the only fatal victim, while the driver and seven other passengers were taken to Baptist Medical Center for emergency treatment. The tragic news has left her fans and loved ones in shock.

A Heartbreaking Goodbye

Angie’s children, Diamond and Michael Archer, shared their grief in a statement: “We never imagined we’d receive such devastating news… We’re still trying to process it, and our hearts are completely broken.”

Her longtime collaborator, producer Walter Millsap III, also spoke about the loss: “We are devastated by this unexpected tragedy. There are simply no words to describe the pain we’re feeling.”

To honor her, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), where Angie was scheduled to perform at halftime on Saturday, held a moment of silence in her memory.
