Shakira Mentions Karol G and Clears Up Feud Rumors

The Barranquilla-born superstar leaves the door open for a possible reconnection

The rumored feud between Karol G and Shakira has dominated headlines since they released their hit TQG together. Since then, despite making history with one of the most powerful eras for Latin music—especially Colombian music—media outlets and social networks have reported a noticeable distance between the two.

Public appearances featuring Karol and Shakira have been very limited, only occurring when they accepted a VMA for their collaboration. Later, they both attended the 2023 Latin Grammys, but they were never seen together. They also haven’t performed TQG live, despite the song’s massive success—not even in their home country, where both have held concerts over the past year.

One thing that resurfaces constantly in the music industry is speculation about rivalries between divas. We’ve seen it before with Madonna and Lady Gaga, or Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez. Now, this narrative seems to follow the most influential figures in the scene, as is the case with Karol and Shakira. However, the Barranquilla-born superstar has made a decision—she’s determined to put an end to the feud rumors.

Shakira’s Words to Karol G that Dismiss Any Rift

During her concert in Bogotá, the capital of the country both Shakira and Karol hail from, the Hips Don’t Lie singer took a moment to address the Bichota.

«If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that falling is not the end—it’s the start of a higher flight. After every fall, we rise a little wiser, a little stronger, a little more… as my friend Karol would say, ‘Triple M,’” Shakira announced.

With Triple M, Shakira was referencing a lyric from TQG, where both artists sing, «más buena, más dura, más level» (hotter, tougher, and on another level)—an anthem of female empowerment after going through heartbreak.

In this way, Shakira leaves the door open for a possible reconciliation with Karol. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see them perform this hit together someday. If that happens, the internet would absolutely break!
