Shakira was clear about her goal when she started her world tour Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour: she wanted to make history. And she definitely is. The global star decided to perform over 30 songs during a two-and-a-half-hour show, which kicked off recently in Brazil and continues to tour Latin America. So far, we’ve seen some pretty amazing moments, like Shakira dancing with a robot and presenting the commandments of the wolves.
What we didn’t expect, though, was that Shakira would make a change to her setlist—and she did! Up until her show in Bogotá at El Campín Stadium, she had been performing one of her biggest hits from Servicio de Lavandería, Objection (Tango), in English. But when she got to the capital of her home country, she decided to surprise her audience by performing the Spanish version of the song, ‘Te aviso, te anuncio’.
Since her Colombian fans, like the rest of the Spanish-speaking audience, are more familiar with the Spanish version, it was a big hit. The crowd went wild, and the stadium erupted in cheers when they realized Shakira was singing the version they knew.
This is just the first change Shakira’s made during her tour. So far, she’s only done four shows, and there’s still a lot more to come! Her next stops are Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, and after those, she’ll head to the U.S. She hasn’t announced her European dates yet, but it’s likely she’ll wait until she’s done with the American leg of the tour to share that info.
A very special concert
On February 20th and 21st, Shakira performed in her hometown of Barranquilla. The artist took the stage at Metropolitano Stadium for two nights as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour. Throughout both nights, she made sure to thank the audience for all their love and support. She also took the chance to walk through some of the streets of her city. Of course, she didn’t go unnoticed, and her fans couldn’t resist coming up to take photos with her.
