The internet is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Mikayla Raines, a 29-year-old animal lover and content creator best known for rescuing foxes and sharing their recovery journeys online. Her work reached nearly 600,000 followers, who were moved by her dedication and compassion.
According to Aristegui Noticias, Mikayla had been committed to wildlife care from a young age. At just 15, she raised her first orphaned fox, and in 2017, she founded SaveAFox Rescue, a nonprofit organization that went on to rescue over 150 foxes from fur farms and neglect. Her work brought awareness and hope to many animals—and people—around the world.
Her husband, Ethan, announced her passing in an emotional video posted to YouTube. He began by warning that the video wasn’t meant for children, then tearfully shared that Mikayla had died by suicide. According to him, Mikayla Raines was deeply affected by false rumors that had spread online and struggled to cope with the emotional toll they caused.
Feel very sad about Mikayla Raines. She dedicated her life to helping animals and deserved much better in return. pic.twitter.com/nNzdjOjjBL

“We have suffered a loss that is unimaginable. Mikayla was truly the most amazing and inspiring individual I have ever known, and not having her here makes everything feel empty. I feel broken. But I will continue her dream, and I hope to have your support going forward so that we can do good in her name,” Ethan wrote in the caption of the video.
