You might remember this—back in 2023, Cardi B found herself at the center of controversy. During a hot summer party at the popular Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, the rapper was on stage performing ‘Bodak Yellow’ when she asked the crowd to throw water on her to help her cool off. Things escalated when one attendee followed her request and tossed the water from her cup toward Cardi. The rapper reacted immediately, visibly upset, and threw her mic at the woman, who was then escorted out by security.
Now, two years later, Cardi is facing a lawsuit for assault, battery, negligence, and other claims. The moment gained even more attention due to Cardi’s response shortly after the incident. From the stage, she told the audience: “I said splash my p***y, not my face.”
The woman—referred to as Jane Doe to protect her identity—has now filed a lawsuit she had initially chosen not to pursue, despite the fact that the incident was investigated by police at the time.

According to El País, the plaintiff claims to have suffered “severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injuries” since the incident. So far, Cardi B has not issued any public statements. Her legal team has pointed to the lack of evidence that led to the case being closed two years ago.
The only visible (and somewhat ironic) result of the situation has been the sale of the very same microphone thrown by Cardi B, which was sold on eBay for over $90,000.

Recently, Cardi B has been focused on promoting and finalizing her new album, Am I the Drama?, a 23-track project set for release on September 19. This will mark Cardi B’s return to the music scene after seven years. While the legal issue may not directly affect her musical career, it’s clear that the situation could cause the artist some significant headaches moving forward.
