Paris Jackson Reflects on Her Battle with Addiction and Sobriety

Michael Jackson’s daughter reaches 5 years of being clean

Paris Jackson, the iconic and only daughter of Michael Jackson, moved and inspired her followers by sharing an emotional video where she opened up about her battle with addiction. In a heartfelt post filled with gratitude, the 26-year-old artist celebrated five years of sobriety, marking a major milestone in her life.

On Instagram, Paris began her message with a striking and honest confession: “Hi, I’m pk and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict. Today marks 5 years clean & sober from all drugs and alcohol. To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface.”

The video accompanying her post takes viewers through her journey. It starts with glimpses of her struggles and transitions to uplifting moments of her life now: singing, enjoying events, spending time in nature, and sharing her days with her fiancé, Justin Long, and her dog.

From Darkness to Light: Paris Reflects on Sobriety

Paris shared a heartfelt reflection on the small joys that now fill her life. “It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today. I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cat. I get to feel heartbreak in all (its) glory. I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it.»

She also expressed her gratitude for those who supported her: “To those that helped me on this journey, if only for just the beginning, middle, or the whole time so far, you know who you are and I owe you my life. Thank you. 5 years. THANK GOD.”

Along with celebrating her sobriety, Paris shared her happiness about her engagement to Justin Long. In December, she posted a touching photo of the proposal, writing: “I can’t imagine anyone more perfect for me. I love you, Blue.”
