New Details About Liam Payne’s Alcohol Levels at the Time of His Death

It’s now confirmed that substance use was one of the main factors leading to his tragic death

The death of Liam Payne on October 16th was one of the most unexpected and tragic events for the music industry. He passed away at 31 after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The hotel manager, who was later investigated, called emergency services to report ‘an aggressive individual who might be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.’ It’s now confirmed that substance use was one of the main factors leading to his tragic death, and that continued drinking could have been the direct cause.

It seems that Payne’s perception of reality was completely altered in the moments before his death. This comes from the latest toxicology report, which is now being reviewed by the Argentine police and prosecutor’s office. The report provides details about the last hours of the musician’s life before he fell.

The investigation revealed that the former One Direction member had a blood alcohol level of 2.7 grams per liter. Which is three times the legal limit for driving in the U.S.

During the investigation, security footage from the hotel showed several people carrying Liam Payne to his room, as he was unable to walk there on his own. However, what those people didn’t realize was that, being in a room with a terrace, the singer tried to escape when he felt ‘trapped.’

The mix of alcohol and traces of cocaine, methylecgonine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene, and the medication sertraline (Zoloft) found in his system turned out to be a lethal combination. It caused the artist to fall, mistakenly thinking he could escape without getting hurt.

The investigation will now focus on whether any of the five people being looked into are criminally responsible for enabling substance use. And if there was any negligence in not ensuring the safety of someone who clearly wasn’t in a state to be alone in a room on a high floor.

It’s also worth noting what Liam Payne’s ex-partner, Maya Henry, said in an interview with Rolling Stone. She said that he had been struggling with depression and several addictions for years. One of the most concerning things she shared was that Liam became ‘unrecognizable’ when he was using substances.
