The stories of the guests and staff at the White Lotus resorts never fail to spark reflection, and this season was no different. We were introduced to a new group of characters, each with their own quirks and chaos that kept us watching. As always, every season leaves us with something to think about.
One of the most anticipated roles this time around was played by none other than LISA, one of today’s biggest pop stars and a member of BLACKPINK. She portrays Mook, a young woman working at the White Lotus resort in Thailand. But her storyline has stirred debate among fans for several reasons. A major disappointment for many fans was how little screen time Mook actually received. Despite being introduced as one of the season’s most exciting additions, LISA’s character ended up being more of a supporting role. She appears in every episode, but with very limited presence.
In fact, the ‘New Woman’ singer appears on screen for just 10 minutes total across the entire season. Out of roughly eight hours of content, her role is brief—and most of her scenes take place in the same setting: standing at the entrance of the resort, usually chatting with Gaitok, played by Tayme.
The Importance of Mook’s in the White Lotus
Even though LISA’s character doesn’t appear on screen as much as fans may have hoped, Mook plays a crucial role in the story. She’s closely connected to Gaitok, a hotel security staff member who dreams of working as a personal bodyguard for Srilata. Mook is Gaitok’s love interest and, more importantly, the emotional drive behind his desire to grow and succeed. Her presence is what helps move Gaitok’s storyline forward.
She plays a key part in shaping his arc and the decisions he makes. In fact, Mook is the one who indirectly pushes Gaitok to pull the trigger and kill Rich—a crucial moment that happens under Srilata’s orders.
This shift begins in Episode 7, when Mook and Gaitok face off in a boxing match. During their conversation, Mook shares her perspective on how the world really works: people fight for what they want. It’s a mindset that stands in contrast to the Buddhist values that are woven throughout the season. But Mook doesn’t see it as something negative—on the contrary, she believes it’s just how life works.
That exchange becomes the most important moment for her character, as it lays the emotional groundwork for one of the season’s most dramatic turning points: Rich’s death.
