After the tragic passing of Mexican celebrity stylist Micky Hair, the beauty world is mourning yet another loss — this time, Brazilian influencer and hairstylist Adair Mendes Dutra Junior, better known as Júnior Dutra. The 31-year-old passed away following complications from a cosmetic procedure known as the “cat eye” or “foxy eye” surgery.

‘Foxy eyes’ gained huge popularity in recent years for its lifted, feline look — often described as sleek and alluring. The procedure involves adjusting the position of the eyebrow and outer eye, and while it’s typically promoted as a minor aesthetic enhancement, it still carries serious medical risks like any surgery.

Júnior Dutra had built a strong online community where he shared beauty hacks, styling advice, and an honest take on self-image. He was admired not just for his elegance and sense of style, but also for his transparency.

He didn’t pretend to be perfect — instead, he showed vulnerability, speaking openly about his insecurities and personal growth. That honesty made him a relatable figure for many. Especially those who saw him as someone unafraid to reinvent himself, experiment, and express beauty on his own terms.

The Surgery That Changed Everything

In March 2025, Júnior Dutra decided to undergo a cosmetic procedure to change his look — a choice that would sadly alter the course of his life. What began as a simple aesthetic enhancement soon turned into a painful, months-long battle. He started experiencing swelling, visible bruising (especially on one side of his face), and persistent discomfort that wouldn’t go away.

In several interviews, Dutra opened up about what he was going through. He said he had been seeing dermatologists and trying to control an infection that didn’t seem to respond to treatment. True to his transparent nature, he documented his struggle through videos and posts, making his pain public.

As time went on, the infection worsened, and his health took a serious turn. Dutra began having trouble breathing and was rushed to a public hospital in São Paulo on October 3, where he tragically passed away. His friend Gean Souza later confirmed the news to a Brazilian outlet, describing in detail the difficult months and the suffering that Júnior endured before his passing.

#QueremosJusticia

It wasn’t just the tragedy of Júnior Dutra’s death that shook the beauty and influencer community — it was the demand for accountability. Before he passed away, Júnior had already filed a formal complaint against the surgeon who performed his cosmetic procedure, identified by local media as Dr. Fernando Garbi.

In his report, he accused the doctor of negligence, unlawful medical practice, and causing serious injuries. These weren’t vague claims or social media rumors — they were backed by official documents, interviews, and visible evidence of the damage he’d suffered, including swelling, marks, and testimonies from those close to him.

The surgeon, on the other hand, denied any direct responsibility, arguing there’s no proven link between his procedure and the fatal infection. He stated that all accusations “without basis” would be handled through legal means. Still, for many who followed Júnior’s story, one thing feels undeniable — something went wrong.

Soon after the news broke, social media filled with posts and hashtags demanding justice. “Queremos justicia” (“We want justice”) became a rallying cry among friends, fans, and fellow creators who mourned his loss. Influencers and figures from the fashion world remembered him not only for his style but also for his warmth, transparency, and courage.

Because Júnior wasn’t just another influencer showing off trends — he was someone who spoke up when things weren’t right. He warned his audience about risks, shared his pain openly, and refused to stay silent about what he experienced. That bravery, beyond the filters and flawless looks, is what will remain as his real legacy — not just aesthetics, but awareness.
