Jillian Lauren, Weezer Drummer’s Partner, Faces Attempted Murder Charge

She was wounded in a shooting where she was struck by gunfire

Jillian Lauren, best known as an author and the wife of Weezer drummer Scott Shriner, has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for attempted murder, as confirmed by Billboard. LAPD released a statement on Wednesday, April 9, confirming that Lauren was involved in a shooting the day before.

According to the statement, a patrol unit requested backup after responding to a hit-and-run incident. The three suspects fled into a nearby neighborhood, and officers quickly located one of them. When police reached the backyard of a home, they found a woman—later identified as Jillian Lauren—in the yard of a neighboring house, holding a firearm.

Officers ordered her to drop the weapon, but according to the LAPD, Lauren, 51, refused and pointed the gun at them. A shooting followed, and she was shot and injured, though her wounds were not life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital within minutes. No officers were harmed during the incident.

Although Lauren was not involved in the original hit-and-run, she was arrested for attempted murder of a police officer with a 9mm handgun found at the scene. She is currently awaiting trial.
