J Balvin and Bad Bunny are two of the biggest figures in Latin music. Their songs have inspired generations that have also dared to share their talents and continue the story of a genre that brings together an ever-growing audience.
However, in 2023, the Puerto Rican mentioned the Colombian in his song Thunder and Lightning with the verse «Mientras ustedes son amigos de to’ el mundo como Balvin,» («While you guys are friends with everyone, like Balvin») which seemed to suggest that their friendship was not in its best moment. Now, it is J Balvin himself who has responded to the question about his current relationship with El Conejo Malo, with whom he shares the album Oasis and numerous other songs that came out before the Puerto Rican’s verse.
In an interview on the radio show El Vacilón de la Mañana, the Colombian said with a smile from ear to ear: «Everyone has their moments when they need to focus on their own thing. I have nothing against Benito, one hundred percent, really. There was a very beautiful moment when we created that Oasis team, awesome, a very cool album, historic, where you’d never heard a Colombian with a Puerto Rican. I celebrate Benito’s success. We don’t talk, but I think surely when we see each other, the vibe will be amazing. There’s no reason either.»

As we mentioned earlier, Bad Bunny and J Balvin joined forces multiple times, creating hits that have left an indelible mark on the industry. Their most notable collaboration is the Oasis album, released in 2019. This album, made up of eight songs, quickly became a global phenomenon, topping digital platforms. Songs like Qué Pretendes and La Canción became reggaeton anthems, showcasing the chemistry and talent of both artists.
In addition to Oasis, Bad Bunny and J Balvin have collaborated on other projects. In 2017, they released the single Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola, a song that fuses both of their unique styles and quickly climbed the charts. They’ve also worked together on tracks like I Like It with Cardi B, which became an international hit and helped them reach an even wider audience.
Their collaboration has not only been musical but also culturally impactful. Both have used their platform to promote diversity and inclusion, becoming role models for millions of followers around the world. And you, do you think there’s still a relationship between them?
J Balvin’s «Back to the Rayo» Tour is currently underway, celebrating his latest album, Rayo. The tour kicked off on March 20, 2025, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and is scheduled to visit 27 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
