Donald Trump may be officially considering a presidential pardon to Sean “Diddy” Combs ahead of the music mogul’s sentencing later this year, according to an exclusive report by Deadline. The possibility of clemency comes after Combs was partially convicted in a high-profile New York City sex-trafficking trial.
Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, was found guilty on charges related to transportation to engage in prostitution but was acquitted of more severe allegations including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. The sentencing is scheduled for October 3, 2025, where Combs could face a maxium of 20 years in federal prison, including time served.
Deadline reports that while the idea of a pardon was first floated publicly by Trump back in May, when the Diddy trial started. the discussion has since intensified within the White House. A source close to the administration told the outlet that the pardon is now being «seriously considered,» although no official decision has yet been made.

When questioned about it in the Oval Office, the President stated in may, «Nobody’s asked, but I know people are thinking about it», he revealed. «I know they’re thinking about it. I believe some people have come very close to asking.» Here, Trump stated that he would definitely review the facts regarding a potential pardon for Diddy if he believed the artist had been treated unfairly — regardless of their personal relationship.
In line with the controversial pardons, Trump had granted pardons to Todd and Julie Chrisley, reality TV stars who were sentenced in 2022 after convictions for fraud and tax evasion.
“I had been watching what was happening, although not too closely, even though it was definitely getting a lot of coverage,” Trump said back then at the White House regarding Combs’ trial. “I hadn’t seen him. I hadn’t seen him. I hadn’t spoken to him in years. He used to like me a lot, but I thought when I went into politics, that relationship kind of ended.”
Trump and Combs share a complex history: once close acquaintances in New York’s social scene, their relationship cooled when Combs publicly opposed Trump and endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Despite this, Trump has expressed willingness to review the facts if he believes Combs was mistreated.
Under presidential pardon powers, Trump didn’t have to wait for a jury verdict to clear Combs. As those close to Combs knew, the president could have issued a preemptive pardon for the man once known as Puffy and made this all go away as soon as possible.
As Combs’ defense team prepares for an appeal post-sentencing, the political and legal drama continues to unfold. Whether Trump ultimately signs a pardon remains uncertain, but the decision could have wide-ranging implications for both justice and celebrity influence in America.
Since the 1970s, at least 25 women have publicly accused Donald Trump of rape, unwanted sexual touching and groping, looking under women’s skirts, and walking in on naked teenage pageant contestants.
Trump has denied all allegations. He also has a history of insulting and belittling women in media appearances and on social media, making lewd comments, disparaging their physical appearance, and using derogatory epithets.
Another notable legal scandal was when Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records related to a payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Daniels allegedly received $130,000 to «stay silent» about having had sexual relations with Trump.
In October 2016, just two days before the second presidential debate with Hillary Clinton, a 2005 “hot mic” recording surfaced in which Trump was heard saying, “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. … Grab ’em by the puss*.” The widespread media backlash led to his first public apology during the campaign and caused outrage across the political spectrum.
In 2025, Trump’s past friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein drew renewed media attention amid his administration’s refusal to release Epstein-related files, despite Trump’s 2024 campaign promises to do so. These allegations and legal battles have profoundly shaped public perception and media coverage of Trump, remaining a highly contentious aspect of his political career.
