The Kid LAROI and Tate McRae made their relationship official in April 2024. LAROI confirmed it during a concert in Dublin, casually telling the crowd, “My girlfriend’s here tonight,” while fans spotted McRae backstage. A few months later, things went Instagram official when he posted a sweet photo of them kissing to celebrate her 21st birthday on July 1.

In August, McRae returned the love with a dance-and-kiss video for LAROI’s 21st, and fans were all in. From there, the couple kept showing up together—holding hands after McRae’s sold-out MSG show, walking through NYC, and showing up arm-in-arm at events like the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars party, as Teen Vogue highlighted. Tate even featured LAROI on her album So Close to What, on the duet ‘I Know Love,’ released in February 2025.

But by July 2025, breakup rumors started circulating online. A fan called out LAROI’s team for allegedly boosting tweets that threw shade at McRae—supposedly tied to lyrics from his single ‘Hot Girl Problems.’ LAROI quickly addressed it on X, making it clear he wasn’t behind it: “I have NOTHING to do with this… I DO NOT co-sign this behavior whatsoever. Working to get these removed.”

He also shared a screenshot of a message he sent to his team, saying: “Tate and I are on good terms and this just looks messy / whack.” While neither of them has officially confirmed the breakup, People noted that the wording and tone led many fans to take it as a low-key confirmation that they’ve gone their separate ways—on good terms, but still done.

How It All Began

The romance between The Kid LAROI (real name Charlton Howard) and Tate McRae first grabbed fans’ attention in early 2024. It all started when McRae posted a mirror selfie while on vacation in Mexico—wearing what looked like LAROI’s shirt. He replied with a sunglasses emoji, and just like that, the internet started connecting the dots.

Their first public outing came on January 16, 2024, when they were spotted having dinner in Santa Monica. By February, they were holding hands at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto, and showed up again together during Super Bowl weekend in Vegas.

Beyond the romance, their relationship was also a creative collab. From music and Instagram shoutouts to red carpet appearances, they seemed fully in sync. And if things really are over now, it looks like they’re handling it quietly and respectfully—especially with LAROI stepping in to set the record straight and keep things drama-free.
