Sixteen years after the premiere of Camp Rock on Disney Channel, rumors about a third installment of the beloved musical franchise have flared up again—thanks to a notable slip by Joe Jonas and a surprise reunion with Demi Lovato.
That’s right: in the same week that the pop diva and the band shocked fans at the opening of their JONAS20 tour at MetLife Stadium, performing iconic Camp Rock songs—including This Is Me and Gotta Find You—for an ecstatic crowd, it seems the former Disney stars have much more to share.
During the recording of the popular show Hot Ones Versus on August 12, accompanied by his brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas, Joe accepted the challenge of reading the most recent note on his phone. Without hesitation, he read aloud: «Read Camp Rock 3.»

Nick froze, Kevin burst out laughing, and Joe insisted, showing the screen: «It’s true, it’s literally here. Sorry, Disney.»
The moment immediately went viral, fueling speculation about a potential return of the hit movie. However, neither Disney nor the Jonas Brothers’ representatives have confirmed that the project is underway. Is this a marketing move—or is it real?
Lovato also appeared on a podcast called Chicks in the Office this week, saying that the reunion with the brothers had been “healing.” A step forward, no doubt, after a somewhat complicated past following her relationship with Joe and her temporary feud with Nick, who had been a close friend.

This renewed friendship between the stars could be one of the signs pointing toward an anticipated Camp Rock comeback. But what is actually known?
Aside from Joe’s supposed slip on Hot Ones, there is little other information available.
Some sources speculate that the movie «is already in pre-production» and that the director would be executive producer Tim Federle, also behind High School Musical: The Musical: The Series—something that is far from confirmed by Disney or other official sources.
News outlets like TMZ have begun digging and report that Lovato «isn’t currently written into the script, but whether the recent reunion changes things remains to be seen,» something that, if true, would undoubtedly cause a stir in the Camp Rock universe—both among fans and the film’s stars.

It’s also worth noting that in June, another iconic cast member, Alyson Stoner—who played the clever Caitlyn Geller—told People, regarding Camp Rock III, that she has not been contacted and would need to see a solid script before agreeing to return.
For now, aside from the information mentioned here, there has been no official announcement from Disney.
