Halle Bailey, known for her role as Ariel in the live-action Little Mermaid, is now facing a much more painful battle off-screen. The actress has accused her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG, of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse during their relationship.
According to legal documents now circulating in media, Bailey describes a series of disturbing incidents involving Darryl Dwayne Granberry (DDG’s real name), which began in January 2025, while they were still together.
“I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse,” Bailey wrote in her request for a restraining order. The Los Angeles County court granted her a temporary protection order, which also extends to her baby, Halo Saint Granberry, born in December 2023.

Bailey didn’t hold back in her testimony. She claims DDG insulted her repeatedly, even in front of their child, using terms like “bitch” and “evil.” She also alleges that he used his social media platforms to spread false information about her, triggering a wave of online hate from his followers.
“He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media,” the actress said.
As part of her case, Bailey submitted evidence that included a chipped tooth, a bruise on her arm, and incriminating text messages. Based on this, the judge ruled that DDG must stay at least 90 meters (roughly 300 feet) away from Halle, their son, and any location where they might be present—including the child’s school and Bailey’s car.

Beyond the restraining order, Bailey is also requesting full custody of Halo, at least during the two months she’ll be working in Italy. She explained that she’ll have support from her family and a nanny while abroad.
Additionally, she’s asked the court to require DDG to enroll in a Batterer Intervention Program. And provide proof that he has completed the full 52-week course.
