Christian Nodal Drops New Song a Day After Cazzu: Meaning, English Lyrics

The Mexican singer released 'El Amigo' following the success of 'Con Otra'

Christian Nodal has just released a new song titled ‘El Amigo,’ and while it’s definitely getting attention, it might not be for the reason you’d expect. The track came out just one day after Cazzu released her own song, ‘Con Otra’.

Why is this significant? Because Nodal and Cazzu’s breakup has been one of the most talked-about topics recently—especially given how things ended between them. In fact, many fans believe Cazzu’s latest track could be aimed at Ángela Aguilar, who is now married to Nodal.

Meanwhile, ‘El Amigo’ tells the story of a lost love, and it’s clear the narrator is still hurting. From the very first verse, Nodal says he’s happy that the other person is doing well, despite everything. He admits that she deserved more than what he gave and that he was the one who lost. He also asks not to be reminded of it, and even though the new man treats her well, she sees him only as a friend.

Throughout the song, Nodal repeats the idea that although she doesn’t look bad with the other guy, she looked better with him.

‘El Amigo’ Meaning: A Song for Cazzu?

Because of Nodal’s past relationships, the internet has been quick to speculate—many saying the track is a subtle message for Cazzu. Others think it could be directed at Belinda, another of his famous exes. But for now, it’s all just speculation based on recent events. Unless the artists speak out, there’s no way to know for sure whether ‘El Amigo’ is meant for someone specific—or if it’s just a reflection on love and loss.

El Amigo’ has come under fire for alleged plagiarism, with some pointing out its resemblance to Enjambre’s ‘Vida en el Espejo’.

‘El Amigo’ English Lyrics

[Verse 1]

From the heart, I’m happy
That your life isn’t dark anymore
He brought color into it, and things are much better now
It shows, and people tell me
It’s no secret you deserved more than what I gave you
He’s the one who won, I’m the one who lost
And it frustrates me
Talking about it—I don’t like it

[Chorus]

I usually don’t comment on that
But after a few drinks, I’ll say it
He treats her like a queen
But she treats him like a friend
And he seems classy
One of those who gets drunk on wine
But I know her well
She doesn’t like that—it’s not her style

[Post-Chorus]

And honestly, they don’t look that bad together
But she looked better with me (Uh)

[Verse 2]

The friend is now the main guy
Not me, maybe it bothers him
Maybe he kisses her
But not like I used to kiss her
Sometimes I think she still thinks about that
Sometimes she says she’s happy, but it doesn’t look like it
With him, she doesn’t get turned on
She belongs with me
I give it a few months
Before she comes back to me
Even if he prays, even if he begs
Even if he offers her the world
She won’t grow old with him
He doesn’t know the spots
That drive her crazy
He touches her body
But I’m the one who touches her soul
I’m asking, as a friend
Don’t make me speak up

[Chorus]

I usually don’t comment on that
But after a few drinks, I’ll say it
He treats her like a queen
But she treats him like a friend
And he seems classy
One of those who gets drunk on wine
But I know her well
She doesn’t like that—it’s not her style

[Post-Chorus]

And honestly, they don’t look that bad together
But she looked better with me.
