Adele is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and beautiful voices in the music industry. In 2020, she surprised the world with her physical transformation. Images of her new look quickly went viral on social media.

In November 2021, Adele sat down for an interview with Vogue, where she revealed the two golden rules that helped her lose 100 pounds in just two years. Her story is a powerful reminder of how dedication and focusing on mental health can lead to incredible results.

Adele shared that her initial motivation to start her weight loss journey came from her struggle with anxiety. She explained that exercise became a form of therapy for her. “Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day.”

First Rule

Adele’s first golden rule was to establish a consistent exercise routine. Her workouts included a mix of activities, such as weightlifting, hiking, boxing, and cardio. She committed to training two or three times a day, which helped her stay active and focused on both her physical and mental well-being.

She started her days with weightlifting sessions in the morning, followed by hiking or boxing in the afternoon, and ended with cardio exercises at night. This multifaceted approach not only helped her lose weight but also allowed her to strengthen her body and increase her stamina. “You don’t need to be overweight to be body positive, you can be any shape or size,” Adele shared.

Second Golden Rule

Instead of following a strict diet, Adele chose to focus on a balanced and healthy way of eating. This was her second golden rule: avoiding restrictive diets. She focused on eating fresh, nutritious foods and avoided processed and fast food. Her mindful approach to eating allowed her to enjoy her meals without feeling deprived, which played a key role in her long-term success.

Why She Didn’t Share Her Journey?

Adele has made it clear that, in her case, the weight loss was never about the number on the scale. However, she also discussed the external ‘narrative’ surrounding her weight. “There’s always been a mad degree of public ownership over you, though, right? “People have been talking about my body for 12 years. They used to talk about it before I lost weight. But yeah, whatever, I don’t care.”

She also explained why she didn’t share her weight loss journey: “People are shocked because I didn’t share my ‘journey’. They’re used to people documenting everything on Instagram, and most people in my position would get a big deal with a diet brand. I couldn’t give a flying f**k. I did it for myself and not anyone else. So why would I ever share it? I don’t find it fascinating. It’s my body.”
