With the conclusion of the Copa América and Argentina’s victory, the sports world is now turning its attention to the next major event of the summer: the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This edition promises an unprecedented fusion of tradition and French innovation, set to take place in the iconic City of Light.

The official start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is scheduled for Friday, July 26. Leading up to this, the Olympic torch has traveled through the city, culminating its journey at the iconic Louvre Pyramid. This event marks the beginning of a series of competitions that will extend until Sunday, August 11, offering nearly three weeks of intense and exciting sports events.

One of the most anticipated aspects is the opening ceremony, which this year breaks tradition by not being held in a stadium. Instead, thousands of athletes will parade on boats along the River Seine, in a unique spectacle that can be followed live both on television and online. The 6-kilometer route will conclude in front of Trocadero, where the final elements of the ceremony and performances will take place.

These Olympic Games mark the return of the event to Europe after 12 years and unfold against a backdrop of complex geopolitical context, including the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The recent history of the Olympic Games has seen constant evolution and growth. In Tokyo 2021, the Games were held under exceptional circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with unprecedented restrictions and without the usual presence of spectators. Rio 2016, on the other hand, marked the first time the Games were held in South America, while London 2012 stood out for its impressive organization and memorable ceremonies.

With Paris 2024, the aim is not only to continue this tradition of excellence but also to set new standards in the celebration of global sports events. The combination of Paris’s rich history and vibrant culture promises to make these Olympic Games an unforgettable event for both athletes and spectators around the world.

Rosalía and Pharrell Williams Among the Co-hosts

On the eve of the Olympic Games, the Prelude to the Olympics will be celebrated at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, designed by Frank Gehry. This event aims to celebrate the City of Light’s devotion to sports this summer. It will feature prominent co-hosts, including Charlize Theron, Serena Williams, Rosalía, and Omar Sy, who will serve as judges.

Rosalía, the iconic Spanish singer and songwriter, has revolutionized music with her fusion of flamenco and contemporary styles, winning multiple awards, including Grammy and Latin Grammy. The artist, who dispelled rumors of her breakup with Jeremy Allen White by walking together in Los Angeles, will be present at the event. She is also in the process of developing her latest album, from which she has already given us some hints in recent months. Additionally, she was recently seen with Frank Ocean.

Attendees will enjoy an Olympic-themed Luna Luna pavilion located in the 16th district of Paris, featuring various interactive installations and sports attractions such as ping-pong, foosball, archery, and basketball, all under the direction of Pharrell. The culinary experience will be provided by Michelin-starred chef Jean Imbert, while Moët Hennessy will handle the cocktails, ensuring that the food and drink are of the highest quality.
