The Spanish press has managed to scoop this musical bombshell

It’s true that we haven’t seen much of our beloved Rosalía since the end of the Motomami Era last summer, but it’s also true that the artist lets us know she never stops working and creating. And if weeks ago alarms were raised about the collaboration of the Catalan artist on Sia’s new album, now it seems she could give us a new anthem working with one of the most revered Latin stars.

But who is it? The Spanish press has managed to uncover more about this long-awaited exclusive, revealing that the singer of «Saoko» is preparing a collaboration with none other than Alejandro Sanz.

The first clue was left by the singer of «Corazón Partío» this Christmas with the publication of the image on official social media accounts. And two months later, we can confirm that the collaboration between Rosalía and the Madrid-based singer is on its way.

The Upcoming Collaboration Between Rosalía & Alejandro Sanz

The man responsible is Spanish composer Manuel Alejandro, a musician who has collaborated with artists such as Raphael, Rocío Jurado, and other greats of the Spanish scene like Julio Iglesias, Nino Bravo, Jeanette, Luis Miguel… He has composed and signed a good part of our sonic history like «Yo soy aquel» and «Se nos rompió el amor.»

And in 2024, we can add a new one to the list. In an interview with the Spanish media Cadena SER, it was revealed that he is still working on the song that Rosalía and Alejandro Sanz will sing together as a duet. At the moment, secrecy surrounds this project as neither the title, nor the lyrics, nor the release date are known…

Now thanks to Spanish radio, we know how this collaboration came about: «This Christmas, Alejandro Sanz and Rosalía went to see him at home. The relationship is close with both, because Alejandro Sanz is his godson and Rosalía, a singer who has managed to move him. He loved the version she sang at the Latin Grammys of the song ‘Se nos rompió el amor,’ which he composed for Rocío Jurado. ‘She told me that she made it a condition that she had to sing that song in Seville,’ recalls Manuel Alejandro. He believes that Rosalía wanted to show that ‘she sings seriously too, not only does she do Motomami, but she can also make serious and well-constructed songs.’ Manuel Alejandro, who is finalizing a song for her and Alejandro Sanz, praises ‘the pinch of her voice, the longing in her voice.’

A topic on which Manuel Alejandro has enormous hopes after the Catalan soloist made him cry after performing at the Latin Grammys in Seville: ‘The last tear I shed with one of my songs was with Rosalía. When I saw her at the Grammys in Seville. I was standing because I was tuning the television and suddenly I hear ‘Se nos rompió el amor.’ I stood still. Tears came out of me, listening to that girl singing that song in a way that was absolutely right. She sang it with the meaning the song has, with the sorrow of something breaking that was working, that was flourishing. That’s the thing.’

The author of «Corazón Partío» was responsible for organizing a very special encounter: ‘I brought you a gift, look. I ran into her on the street and I said, ‘let’s have a coffee at least,'» joked the Madrid soloist with the Jerez native, while the Catalan approached him affectionately to greet him. ‘I’ve come to see you. Did I tell you I would come or didn’t I? How are you, maestro?’ he said as they embraced, which moved Alejandro himself and transcended the screen.
