Rosalía has been keeping a low profile since concluding her Motomami Tour last July. Since then, we’ve seen intermittent public appearances and social media posts
In these months, the artist has attended events like the Paris Fashion Week and delivered a historic performance at the Latin Grammys. We’ve also seen her roam the streets of Los Angeles with Jeremy Allen White and release «Oral» featuring Björk. But what is the Catalan artist up to?
Well, the singer of «Saoko» is participating in the new project of Australian artist Sia, who is making a pop comeback in 2024 after eight years since the release of ‘This is Acting’ back in 2016. Thanks to the announcement on her social media, we now know the release date of her new album, ‘Reasonable Woman,’ and the collaborations it includes. However, there is still some mystery surrounding the collaboration of both artists.
The Australian singer has revealed that her 10th studio album will feature performers like Kylie Minogue or Labrinth, but also Tierra Whack, Paris Hilton, or Chaka Khan. And precisely this last one, titled ‘Immortal Queen,’ adds a name yet to be discovered. Who could it be? A far as we know, Rosalía will work as a producer.
As reported by Billboard, the artist has surrounded herself with producers, composers, and sound engineers to achieve a fresher project. Among others, they mention names like Jesse Shatkin, Greg Kurstin, benny blanco, Jim-E Stack, bülow, Mark «Spike» Stent, and many more. But one name that caught our attention is Rosalía’s.
Our Motomami, recognized as Producer of the Year in the last edition of Billboard Women in Music 2023, is registered as a producer and composer. Despite this, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think that the Catalan could be the remaining name to join this musical project in all its facets; that is, also as a singer. «I have had the help of many incredible friends who have given everything for this album to be what it is. I can’t wait for you to hear it,» she expressed in her Instagram post.
If the theory is confirmed, Rosalía, Chaka Khan, and Sia would form the perfect trio in ‘Immortal Queen,’ a collaboration that, in turn, could have a fusion of genres as varied as funk, jazz, and the most melodic pop. We choose to believe!
