The Reason Olivia Rodrigo Was Almost Arrested

Olivia Rodrigo recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This late-night talk show is well-known, among other things, for the celebrity guests who often share stories their fans have never heard before. Naturally, the ‘vampire‘ singer also had a surprising story to share.

Rodrigo explained that she was almost arrested during one of her recent stops on the GUTS World Tour. While traveling from Canada to Portland, she was stopped by police at the airport. At first, she thought the officers might simply want a picture or an autograph. However, she soon found herself in an interrogation room.

In the room, one of the officers asked Olivia if she had ever been arrested. Nervously, she answered no. But the officer didn’t seem convinced and pressed her further, asking if she was certain of her response. At this point, Rodrigo started to doubt herself, wondering, «Maybe I’ve been arrested before and don’t remember it,» as she later shared on the show.

After a half-hour of interrogation, the officers finally asked her name, and she responded, clearly nervous, “Olivia Rodrigo,” even feeling the need to spell out her last name. This was when the police realized they had the wrong person. «There’s another young woman who looks a lot like you, is around your age, and has been arrested multiple times… but her name is Olivia Rodríguez.»

At that moment, the singer sighed in relief, grateful that it was all just a misunderstanding, though it had been quite a scare.
