Sabrina Carpenter is enjoying a high point in her career, with hits like ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’ making her one of 2024’s standout artists. On August 23, she’ll release her new album Short n’ Sweet, which is expected to top charts worldwide.

Despite her busy schedule, the singer continues to perform globally, including a recent set at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. However, during her performance, a pyrotechnic mishap startled her as the flames got out of control, causing her to scream and dash to the center of the stage in surprise.

Sabrina placed her hand over her mouth and eventually exited the stage with her dancers. Without a doubt, a moment no one will forget from the concert, and for good reason. Fortunately, it was just a scare, and Sabrina continued the show without any issues.

A Special Performance

At Outside Lands, Sabrina also performed one of her new songs live. She sang ‘Slim Pickins,’ a folk-influenced single she had previously debuted at the Grammy Museum, though that event was only for a select group of fans.

Carpenter proved herself to be on par with the festival headliners. The singer stepped in at the last minute after rapper Tyler The Creator canceled his show last June, accepting the invitation to join the festival lineup.

MTV VMAs 2024

Sabrina Carpenter’s year keeps getting better. She’s been confirmed as one of the performers at the upcoming MTV VMAs, where she’s also nominated in six major categories. These include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for ‘Espresso,’ and Best Pop Video.

Additionally, she’s up for Best Direction for ‘Please Please Please,’ Best Editing for ‘Espresso,’ and Best Art Direction for ‘Please Please Please.’ These nominations highlight her growing influence and artistry in the music industry.
