Two years have passed since Rosalía released Motomami, an album that received high praise from critics worldwide. After the success of Rosalía‘s previous album, El Mal Querer, in 2018, she faced the challenge of creating another album that would impress both critics and fans alike. And she did it! The album became an instant classic, blending various musical genres and experimenting with different sounds. She made history once again.

Now, on the second anniversary of the album’s release, the Spanish star wanted to celebrate. On March 18, 2022, Motomami hit the shelves and to mark the occasion, Rosalía shared a special photo gallery featuring (unpublished) behind-the-scenes photos from the past two years. From studio sessions to highlights from her worldwide tour, the gallery captures the journey she’s been on. The first photo she posted is a selfie wearing a scarf with her name on it, which fans can now purchase from her official website.

Two years ago today, Motomami was released. I put my heart, mind, soul, voice, and entire being into this project, and you embraced it as if reuniting with the love of your life at the airport after years apart. I never take your love for granted. Thanks to you, I had the opportunity to tour much of the world,” Rosalía begins.

The singer continues by expressing gratitude to her audience for listening to the album over the past years. Additionally, Rosalía shared some words that have brought joy to her fans:

“Lately, I’ve experienced some ups and downs in my life, as you know, but as you also know, I’m a woman who gives my all to everything I do. I’m eager to create more music, explore new worlds, get into more adventures, and clap more. Thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU. Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the impact that Motomami would have, and it’s all because of you.”

A Handwritten Letter

Furthermore, in her Instagram stories, she has shared a handwritten letter dedicated to Motomami. In it, the artist recounts how she created this album. Amidst a pandemic and in the midst of her life, between Barcelona, Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.

“I made this album sometimes dressed in the studio and sometimes naked in a thong. I made this album while remembering who I am. Remembering those I love. I did this because if time is like money, I prefer to spend it on something that lasts forever. I made this album so that when I’m not here, it will be here for me. Between my 27th and 29th years.”

Now we just have to wait for Rosalía to release a new song. For now, we know that the composer Manuel Alejandro is working on a collaboration alongside with Alejandro Sanz. Could this be her comeback?
