It seems like Peso Pluma has set out to release a song every week, and we’re totally in. If the king of corridos tumbados dropped «PESO COMPLETO» with Arcángel last week, now he comes back strong with «TEKA,» his explosive collaboration with DJ Snake.
Snake, a French producer known for blending EDM with dubstep and trap, responsible for iconic anthems like «Lean On,» «Let Me Love You,» or «Taki Taki.» Now, after performing it together for the first time at Coachella, both superstars come together in what promises to be a new hit, an ode to partying and clubbing.
In this song, Peso Pluma and DJ Snake join the electrocorrido trend, a combination of traditional rhythms and EDM that we’ve already seen in other songs like the viral hit «Alucín» by Sebastián and Eugenio Esquivel featuring Marca Registrada.
Here, the word «TEKA» refers to the Spanish word «discoteca,» which means «nightclub.» Hence, the chorus repeats several times «romper la discoteca» («to break the nightclub»).
The weekend has arrived
Italian designer clothes
Gonna party with the crew
And never arrive sober
Sometimes alcohol, sometimes cocaine
But always marijuana

And she’s South American
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
The cops are gonna come to kick us out, we’re rolling
Smoking, gin and tonic
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
Gonna break the disco, la-la-la-la
Gonna break the disco, la-la-la-la
Gonna break the disco, la-la
She walks in and steals the spotlight
Driving me crazy dancing the dembow
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
The cops are gonna come to kick us out, we’re rolling
Smoking, gin and tonic
Gonna break the disco-tech-tech-tech-tech
