With a vibrant mix of rhythms that evoke the warmth of their homeland, Mau y Ricky have released their third studio album, Hotel Caracas. This new work marks a milestone in the career of the Venezuelan duo, solidifying their position in the Latin pop scene with a sound that promises to leave a mark. They discussed this project with LOS40.

The album emerges as an oasis of positive energy and nostalgia, infused with the creativity that characterizes the brothers. Following the success of the first four singles, the public has enthusiastically received the remaining eleven tracks, which have quickly become their favorite soundtrack.

Hotel Caracas is a journey to the artists’ roots, a return to Venezuela after 15 years of absence, reflected in every note and every lyric. The production by Malay, co-production by JonTheProducer, and mixing by Manny Marroquin provide exceptional sound quality, while JP Saxe’s participation adds a distinctive touch to the whole. It’s a tribute to their homeland, with acoustic arrangements, pop sounds, and a rich brass section. It celebrates a life dedicated to music, from childhood to the present, exploring everything from urban pop to innovative genre fusions.

The release experience culminates in a 15-chapter film, directed by Daniel Durán, accompanying the album. Filmed in 16mm, the movie is a visual journey that complements Mau y Ricky’s musical odyssey, taking viewers through their emotional return to Venezuela.

«Hotel Caracas is a journey. It’s a journey towards the future, but also back to our roots. We returned to the first love of writing songs from curiosity, without formulas or rules. We went back to the excitement of being kids. We reinvented ourselves. We returned to our instruments, which, although we never abandoned them, had not been as prominent as they are now. We returned to full albums, like the ones we grew up with. With the excuse of the album’s name, we returned to Venezuela after more than a decade. This album has given us so much, and it’s only just coming out. Enjoy it a lot, we made it with a lot of love and care,» the artists explain.

Mau y Ricky’s trajectory is that of two artists who have transcended borders. Known composers in the industry, they have showcased their talent in hits for artists like Karol G and Ricky Martin, accumulating over 5 billion streams. Now, with Hotel Caracas, they break boundaries once again, offering an auditory experience that impacts and excites.

Mau y Ricky’s rise as crossover artists is undeniable. Their debut at Coachella and appearances on major TV shows demonstrate that their music resonates beyond cultural or geographic barriers.

With Hotel Caracas, Mau y Ricky not only present a collection of songs but also make a statement of principles. It’s an album that captures the essence of their artistic journey, filled with exciting collaborations and surprises that secure their place in the hearts of Latin pop fans. With this release, the duo not only returns to their roots but also projects themselves towards the future of global music.
