Maluma Goes Back to Cumbia with New Song: ‘Contrato’

After his daughter was born, Maluma didn’t take a break; instead, he recently dropped a collaborative EP titled 1 OF 1 with his close friend Blessd just a few days ago. Now, just days later, he’s releasing «Contrato,» a song that leans into cumbia influences and nods to classic Mexican music. It’s a return to the ‘Maluma Baby’ persona that many of his fans have been eager to hear again.
The music video feels a lot like a Hollywood movie. It’s set in Las Vegas, featuring luxury, chases, and romance throughout the nearly four-minute song. Maluma appears with long hair, taking us back to 2019, when he released hits like «Hola Señorita (María)» and «Mi Declaración».
“Your Maluma Baby is back, my love… the one who’s into trap, reggaeton, pop, salsa, merengue, and now CUMBIA!!!!!” That’s how the star announced it on social media. To mark the release and during his stay in Paris, the Colombian artist invited all his fans to gather in the city center. Thousands of people showed up, and excitement and joy filled the atmosphere throughout the event.
