Corridos tumbados are all the rage. More and more fall into the clutches of songs by big names in the industry like Peso Pluma, Natanael Cano, Eslabón Armado, and Junior H, among others. And this subgenre of regional Mexican music no longer knows borders.

This May 10th, fans of this musical style are celebrating. Three of the genre’s greatest references have come together in the same song that, as it could not be otherwise, invites you to let yourself go with each of its melodies. It is ‘La Durango,’ the long-awaited collaboration of Peso Pluma, Junior H, and Eslabón Armado.

‘La Durango’: Meaning

But, what does ‘La Durango’ mean? «Morritas montadas en la Durango y van bien cake,» («Girls in the Durango looking cake«) says Doble P in one of his verses. In them, he refers to how pretty the girls look in the Dodge Durango, a car model they are riding. In fact, the song continues like this: «Los vidrios son negros, no me caen bien los metiches» (The windows are black, I don’t like the nosy ones)

The song published by these three urban genre references has been warmly welcomed on social media. There have been many reactions it has received, declaring the song as one of the most anticipated of the year. Many hope they will end up joining forces in a music video, but we’ll have to wait to see if it finally comes true.

Peso Pluma’s ‘La Durango’: Lyrics in English

Here are the complete lyrics of ‘La Durango’:

[Intro: Peso Pluma]

Compa Chivo, ¡ah!
Up plebes!
Chau!

[Instrumental Bridge]

[Verse 1: Pedro Tovar, Peso Pluma & Junior H]

After so much hard work, I’ve surpassed myself
And I don’t get discouraged, thank God we’re okay
And if they ask how I’ve been doing so well
Don’t be scared, I earned it with effort
Girls riding in the Durango and looking really hot
The windows are black, I don’t like the nosy ones
I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again
Here, the one who gets discouraged loses, so I never get discouraged
All the effort, really, how much it cost me
Damn copiers, get your own flow
I don’t hallucinate, like others, who just put on a show
Here with your girl and her friends, backstage at my show

[Chorus: Peso Pluma, Junior H & Pedro Tovar]

With my buddies forging another rooster
Enjoying this life, of course
No one is eternal in this world
And there’s nothing better than having a good time
My buddies are still here, by my side
Things haven’t changed here
Loyalty is what I seek
And easy money I accumulate

[Interlude: Junior H, Peso Pluma & Pedro Tovar]

Uh!
All about Doble P, man
Pure Junior H
How?
Compa Chivo
What do you say?
Just like that, compa Junior
All about Doble P, man
Pure Eslabon Armado, pa
Uh!

[Verse 2: Junior H & Peso Pluma]

In the Durango, I have a good time nice and easy
They open the door and the damn smoke comes out
Crazy, all waved, we enter ready for the club
Bring me another bottle 70, Don Julio’s
It’s already dawn and the Barbies ask what’s up
Bring out the pink cake, anywhere but the canton
Girls riding in the Durango and looking really hot
The windows are black, I don’t like the nosy ones

[Chorus: Junior H, Peso Pluma & Pedro Tovar]

With my buddies forging another rooster
Enjoying this life, of course
No one is eternal in this world
And there’s nothing better than having a good time
My buddies are still here, by my side
Things haven’t changed here
Loyalty is what I seek
And easy money I accumulate

[Outro: Pedro Tovar]

With my buddies forging another rooster
Enjoying this life, of course
No one is eternal in this world
And there’s nothing better than having a good time
My buddies are still here, by my side
Things haven’t changed here
Loyalty is what I seek
