In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Selena Gomez opened up about her career path after a year full of success in film and the beauty industry. The 32-year-old star feels her acting journey is just getting started. “I love earning my place and telling stories,” she shared, clearly excited about her upcoming projects.
This year, Gomez starred in Emilia Pérez, a French musical crime comedy directed by Jacques Audiard, alongside Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña. She admitted being surprised by the film’s global success despite being a French-only production. “I was confused. I asked, ‘Why is this getting so much attention?’ and everyone just laughed,” she recalled. Meanwhile, she’s been expanding her cosmetics brand Rare Beauty and building her mental health platform Wondermind.

Although her schedule is packed, Gomez assured fans that music is still part of her life, even if it’s currently on hold. Since releasing her last studio album Rare in 2020—which topped the Billboard charts thanks to ‘Lose You to Love Me’—fans have been eagerly waiting for her next project. Earlier this year, she released ‘Love On,’ a follow-up to her 2023 single ‘Single Soon,’ though it didn’t make much noise on the charts.
Selena Gomez’s recent releases had fans thinking a new album might be on the way. However, the ‘Hands to Myself’ singer clarified that the tracks won’t be part of her next project. “I feel like I’m working on some great songs, but I’m not sure if they’ll fit the direction I’m going in,” she shared about her yet-to-be-announced album.
On the personal side, Gomez seems happier than ever. She opened up about her relationship with producer Benny Blanco, emphasizing the stability and security she’s found with him. “I’ve never felt this safe in a relationship, and for the first time, I see a future with this person,” she told THR.
While she usually keeps her love life under wraps, she admitted that staying private has helped reduce public pressure, allowing her to enjoy her relationship while staying focused on her personal and career goals. In a sweet twist, the couple has already got engaged, with Selena sharing the happy news on Instagram.
