It has taken a while, but the moment has finally arrived. After breaking into the industry with a global success, Iñigo Quintero has sat down on LOS40 Global Show to talk with Tony Aguilar about everything that has happened with «Si no estás,» but also about his plans for his music and his stance on potential collaborations.
«Living that number one is quite a trip. I released the song to see what would happen. I recorded it in my room, with no big expectations. We haven’t re-recorded it or anything. In fact, now I listen to it and feel like it could be much better.»
«I don’t like to say what the song is about. I don’t want to tell it. Let everyone take it as they want. I like all interpretations. Part of the success of ‘Si no estás’ is that you can take it to a thousand different situations. If you pigeonhole it in one place, you leave out other people.»
«I’ve always played with pressure…imagine. It was the next song I released after all the success of ‘Si no estás.’ I didn’t know if people would like it or not. It’s obvious that I won’t have such success again in my life, but you have to go in with the mindset that it’s time to fight again and make good songs. I released it, and it turned out really cool.»
«With ‘Lo que queda de mí,’ I had pressure on me…imagine. It was the next song I released after all the success of ‘Si no estás.’ I didn’t know if people would like it or not. It’s obvious that I won’t have such success again, probably, in my life, but you have to go in with the mindset that it’s time to fight again and make good songs. I released it, and it turned out really cool.»
«All of this with ‘Si no estás’ caught me with only four songs released, and I can’t do a concert with four songs. I’m working on more repertoire, composing several songs to release them soon and do concerts. I’m really looking forward to it.»
«People ask me to collaborate, but, in general, I’m not doing it. There are many people I would like to collaborate with, but I want to make my own songs. Right now, there are two that are collaborations, and the others I want them to be mine […] I’m currently preparing an EP of five songs.»
«Many of them sing, but one of them also has a song released. We haven’t thought about doing anything together. He’s currently on the same path I was on a few months ago. Hopefully, we’ll collaborate in the future.»
