Social media often makes us long for an idyllic life, an ideal relationship, and an existence surrounded by luxury and all the goals society sets at an early age. It seemed this standard was set by the love story between the Italian blogger Chiara Ferragni and the rapper Fedez.
Attractive, wealthy, famous, and powerful, they became global superstars by sharing their daily lives (and later, their children’s) on social media. They appeared to be the perfect couple, with the perfect job, the perfect house, and the perfect family. However, we know that perfection is not inherent to human beings, and a few months ago, ‘the Ferragnez’ clan stopped shining as brightly as they once did.
Following Chiara’s financial scandals and Fedez’s health issues, the couple agreed that their relationship had worn out over time, leading them to take a break this past February. But what has happened since? Why do they keep making headlines? Why have they stopped showing their children on social media? To understand this better, we need to create a timeline of their relationship and current status.
Fedez and Chiara met at a dinner with friends in 2015, where they first connected, as Ferragni was interested in his music.
A few months later, Fedez released a song that became a summer hit in Italy, ‘Vorrei ma non posto’ with J-Ax. In it, he dedicated a verse to Chiara: “Chiara Ferragni’s dog has a Vuitton bow tie and a collar brighter than an Elton John jacket.” This reference led to them continuing to talk and stay in touch.
It was a few months after their initial conversations, in 2016, when the influencer and the rapper began to openly show that they were dating. In October of that year, the media captured the couple, and from then on, they started posting photos together on social media, confirming their relationship.
In 2017, Fedez used his concert at the Arena di Verona, coinciding with Chiara’s birthday, to propose to her to the tune of «Favor The Feelings,» a song he wrote for her. The moment was broadcast live, making thousands of fans believe in love again.
The couple married in Sicily, in the town of Noto, specifically at the stunning Palazzo Duzecio, on September 1, 2018. The celebration continued at the boutique hotel Dimora delle Balze. Chiara wore an impressive haute couture design by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s creative director.
Fedez and Chiara welcomed their first child, Leone Lucia Ferragni, on March 19, 2018, in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, just a few months before their wedding. Three years later, their daughter Vittoria Lucia Ferragni was born in Milan, on March 23, 2021.
Earlier, we discussed the reasons behind Chiara Ferragni and Fedez’s breakup, linked to Chiara’s financial fraud and Federico’s health problems.
“Since San Remo last year, the love story between the two had deteriorated, but the influencer had postponed any decision to stay close to her sick husband. However, when she faced difficulties, Fedez was less generous and accused her that her legal problems were also having negative effects on his business. A game of recriminations in which Fedez raised the conflict while trying to keep the situation under control. Then the rapper fled to Miami with his assistant and finally left the house,” revealed a source to Vanity Fair Italy.
A few months ago, the rapper appeared in tears on Italian TV to explain more about their current situation. “Chiara and I have been through many difficult moments. My illness… These have been three very complicated years, and unfortunately, we couldn’t handle it,» said the artist. But that wasn’t all. He claimed that the Balocco controversy had affected their marriage. However, it’s “not the reason” they decided to break up.
Currently, Fedez has been seen with other women, suggesting he has moved on beyond friendship, while Chiara has chosen to face this new chapter surrounded by friends and trips. Based on the information we have, also provided by other media, the ex-couple doesn’t have the best relationship at the moment. One issue where they did not agree was exposing their children on social media, which they have both decided to stop for now.
