Shawn Mendes’ appearance on John Mayer’s How’s Life on SiriusXM has been making headlines worldwide, as the Canadian singer seemed to address the rumored love triangle involving Sabrina Carpenter, allegedly the inspiration behind her song ‘Taste.’ He also shared insight into what really happened between Mendes, Camila Cabello, and Carpenter.
During the interview, Mendes surprised fans by admitting he could have handled things better when it came to unresolved feelings. “I’m with someone. Two days before going to hang with my ex,—I—express I’m going to hang with my ex because I have unresolved feelings. Maybe instead of two days it could have been two weeks,” he admitted.

Mendes and Cabello, who ended their relationship in November 2021, were spotted together again at Coachella in 2023, shortly after Mendes was seen with Carpenter. This situation has fueled ongoing speculation and plenty of fan conversations online about the dynamics between the three stars.
These lyrics and public remarks have fueled ongoing fan theories about what really happened between Mendes, Cabello, and Carpenter. Reflecting on the situation, Mendes admitted: “The biggest lesson I’ve heard is no one gets out of this life without getting hurt, and no one gets out of this life without hurting someone.”

Cabello seemed to add more fuel to the fire when she posted a TikTok video of herself singing her song ‘June Gloom,’ featuring the lyrics: “She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures / […] If she’s so amazing / Why are you on this side of town? / If you like her so much / What are you here tryna find out?”
While none of them have directly addressed the rumors, Mendes previously defended Cabello on social media. In October, when a fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “They don’t take shots at each other” about the pair. Mendes retweeted the post and agreed: “No, we don’t.”
