Camila Cabello is having a great moment in her career. She’s still promoting her album C, XOXO, which had a special edition release in early September with new songs like ‘GODSPEED’ and ‘Can Friends Kiss?’ She’s also gone back to her signature brunette look after saying goodbye to her platinum blonde hair.
This month, Camila has been making waves. She was one of the highlights of the 2024 MTV VMAs, delivering a memorable performance where she even smashed a computer on stage. But her live performances didn’t stop there. On Saturday, September 21, Camila also took the stage at the iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas.
As one of the headliners, alongside stars like Gwen Stefani and Paramore, Camila performed a mix of songs from her discography. In addition to tracks from her latest album, she also revisited some of her biggest hits. And of course, ‘Señorita,’ her 2019 hit with Shawn Mendes, was part of the setlist.
During her performance of ‘Señorita,’ Camila Cabello purposely left out a word from one of the lines. When she sang the verse “You say we’re just friends but friends don’t know the way you taste,” she didn’t say the last word. Instead, she playfully put her finger to her lips and gave the audience a fun look.

But why did she do this? It ties into the ongoing buzz around Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and herself. Ever since Carpenter released her song ‘Taste’ in August as part of Short N’ Sweet, many fans have been speculating that the lyrics refer to a love triangle from the time when Shawn was spotted with both Camila and Sabrina.
Over the past few weeks, Camila has seen social media filled with theories about that time. And how has she handled it? By having a little fun and laughing it off. During her performance of ‘Señorita,’ she gave the audience something to talk about by skipping the word ‘taste’ from the famous verse. Interestingly, that’s also the title of the song Sabrina is rumored to have written about her.

It seems like all three artists are having fun with this narrative, and that’s what really matters.
