Daddy Yankee is one of the most influential figures in urban music, especially in reggaeton. His long and impressive career has made him an inspiration for artists who are just starting out in the music industry.
Although he officially announced his retirement in 2022, the singer has still released a few tracks this year, with ‘Donante de Sangre’ and ‘LOVEO’ standing out. Now, he’s surprised his fans by announcing the release of his first book, ‘ReaDY, The Power to Change Your Story.’
The Puerto Rican artist shared the news through a video on his social media, where he revealed the book’s cover. Along with the announcement, he expressed his gratitude. “Hey family, look what just arrived—the first physical copy of my book ReaDY, The Power to Change Your Story. It will be available in both Spanish and English. In this book, I share many personal experiences, life stories, and lessons I’ve learned along the way. I hope it brings blessings to all of you,” he said, speaking to the camera with genuine emotion.

The book is expected to be published in April 2025. While the exact topics are still unknown, Billboard reports that it will likely be a place where ‘music, resilience, and faith come together in a story filled with challenges, triumphs, and life-changing lessons.’ The decision to release an English version aims ‘to spark cultural conversations,’ according to the publisher.
This isn’t the first time the artist has opened up to his audience. He did so during his farewell concerts in Puerto Rico at the end of last year. “For a long time, I tried to fill a void in my life that no one could fill. I was searching for meaning in my life, and sometimes I seemed very happy. But something was missing to make me feel complete. I have to admit that those days are over; someone finally filled that void I felt for so long. I realized that, to everyone, I was someone, but without Him, I was nothing,” he confessed. So it wouldn’t be surprising to see the same emotional depth in this upcoming project.
Daddy Yankee has been a key player in the music industry for over twenty years. But he’s not the only one who helped bring urban music to the world stage. Other big names like Don Omar, Plan B, and Wisin y Yandel also deserve a spot on this list, with hits like ‘Dale Don Dale,’ ‘Fanática Sensual,’ ‘Gasolina,’ and ‘Noche de Sexo.’
These artists were instrumental in spreading reggaeton around the globe, and it seems that twenty years of making music isn’t enough for any of them. They still have plenty more to offer. What do you think about the news of Daddy Yankee’s new book?
