Daddy Yankee held his final musical concert at the Coliseum of Puerto Rico, and fans could tune in to watch it through a live stream. He had announced this event back in March 2022, and as the day approached, the anticipation grew. The concert took place in his hometown, surrounded by his loved ones.
Addressing the gathered audience, he said, “Puerto Rico, we’re now truly ready to say goodbye to my musical journey in the way it deserves. This will be a significant milestone for me, being here with my people and all those who have come to my beautiful island to witness my retirement.” Daddy Yankee wasn’t alone in this ‘goodbye’; he was joined by Rauw Alejandro, Luis Fonsi, Zuleyka Rivera, and his fiancé Dj Luian, all sharing the stage in what he named ‘La Meta’ (The Goal).
As he went through his greatest hits one last time, the concert took an unexpected turn. Daddy Yankee transformed it into a spiritual experience, delivering a heartfelt speech about Jesus Christ, accompanied by messages lit up in the night sky.
“It is not the same to live a life of success as it is to live a life with purpose. For a long time, I tried to fill a void in my life that only I can fill. I tried to fill and search for meaning in my life. At times, I pretended to be happy, but something was missing to make me complete. And I have to confess that those days are over,” he shared about the great discovery he has made in recent times.
“Someone can fill that void I felt for a long time. I realized that to everyone, I was someone, but I was nothing without Him. I was able to travel the world for years, win many awards, applause, and praise, but I realized something that the Bible says: What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? So tonight, I acknowledge and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me, and I will live for Him,” he concluded, reaffirming his faith.

“The Bible says, ‘Whoever acknowledges me before others here on Earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father.’ Now, those who know me as Daddy Yankee, let them say, Daddy Yankee in Christ,” he requested. “A story has ended, and a new story is about to begin. A new beginning. All the tools I have in my power, like music, social media, platforms, a microphone, everything that Jesus has given me, now belongs to the Kingdom,” he added.
It looks like more and more artists are getting involved in this religious path, creating moments like these that remind us of similar experiences by other singers like Justin Bieber or Arcángel. “Do not follow any man; I am human. To all the people who followed me, follow Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Christ loves us, and Christ is coming,” he concluded, addressing his followers.
He shared this moment on his social media and accompanied it with a heartfelt message: “Family: This day for me is the most important of my life… Tonight, I acknowledge and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me, and I will live for Him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a completely new one.”
“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Matthew 16:26-27 Amen ❤️,” he concluded with a Psalm from the Bible.
