Two weeks have passed since the song «Akureyri,» but Aitana is still singing and discussing the track, especially in international media. Her latest interview with Billboard was quite revealing. She not only talked extensively about this beautiful collaboration but also opened up more than ever when asked about Sebastián Yatra. Let’s recall that they used to keep their relationship private.
Aitana considers «Akureyri» to be one of the most special songs of her career. Why? Because it’s the third one she has done with Yatra and it reflects a part of their personal and emotional journey together. According to her, they started working on the song last summer. However, the recording process was prolonged for months due to reasons we are all aware of.
“In the whole process, from creating the song to its release, we’ve experienced everything, highs and lows… That’s why this song feels so genuine,” the artist explains to Billboard.
“Akureyri was created in one way, then another, and finally recorded differently. We never really knew what emotional state we were in. I think that’s the beauty of Sebastián and me, we just go with the flow.” To wrap up, Aitana has opened up about her relationship with the Colombian artist like never before, saying they’re in a good place.

«Akureyri» marks where Aitana is at right now, but fans are eager to know what’s coming next. There’s no news yet about when she’ll release another song, but she’s gearing up to hit the festival circuit soon. This Saturday, you can catch her at the Tecate Emblema in Mexico. Then, she’ll be starting her tour in Spain on June 7th at the Iconica Santalucía Sevilla Fest.
