Matthew Perry’s Autopsy Initial Details: What We Know

Toxicology results could take 4 to 6 months

Nearly a week afte the tragic death of actor Matthew Perry, who portrayed Chandler Bing in the popular comedy series ‘Friends,’ the causes of his death remain a mystery. Initial reports from the LA Times and TMZ suggested a possible heart attack that may have led to his subsequent drowning in his jacuzzi.

In fact, the autopsy performed on the actor, as reported today by media outlets like TMZ, indicates that forensic examiners did not find traces of fentanyl or methamphetamine in his system, at least not in lethal doses that could have caused his death.

The team of medical professionals conducting the examination has conducted additional tests that may take 4 to 6 months to provide more in-depth details and determine if there were any remnants of other drugs in his system. They are also analyzing whether the medication doses he was taking were correct.

The police investigating this case continue to try to establish all of the actor’s movements in the days leading up to his death. So far, it is known that he spent several hours playing pickleball at the Riviera County Club in Los Angeles before returning home to rest, where his lifeless body was eventually discovered.

As previously reported, it was his household assistant who, alarmed by Matthew Perry’s lack of response, alerted the police, leading to the authorities entering his home and finding the actor’s lifeless body.

‘Friends’ Cast Reaction

Despite the passing days, condolences from producers, actors, and other members of the popular ‘Friends’ series continue to reach Perry’s family. In fact, rumors have gained strength in recent days that his friends might continue with the initiative that the actor had taken to create a foundation to help people with problems.

It is worth remembering that due to the pain of the news, his co-stars (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc) issued a statement published by People magazine:

«We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,» their statement reads. «There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.» «In time we will say more, as and when we are able,» the statement continues. «For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.»

The statement, which has been exclusively issued to the magazine jointly, is signed on behalf of the five main cast members and is, for now, the only details given by the actors following the death of the sixth (and irreplaceable) member of the television family. The creators of ‘Friends,’ Marta Kauffman and David Crane, on their part, have once again spoken out to mourn this irreplaceable loss for them and to express gratitude for sharing experiences with Perry:

“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing,” they wrote. “It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent.”
