Karol G’s Debut in Netflix’s series ‘Griselda’: First Look with Sofía Vergara

Karol G, after a big year in her music career with two important album releases, is gearing up to try her hand at acting in 2024. She’s not one to shy away from new challenges, and that’s why we’ll soon see her in a significant role in an upcoming Netflix series: Griselda, a Narcos-style series based on true events, but with a female lead.

Set to premiere on January 25th, it stars Sofia Vergara as the clever and ambitious mastermind behind one of the most lucrative drug cartels in history. In this exciting project, Carolina Giraldo, our beloved Karol G, will follow in the footsteps of other singers who’ve successfully transitioned from music to the screen. To get us all excited, the platform has dropped a trailer giving us a first look at ‘La Bichota’ in action. 

In the images, she doesn’t have the red hair from the ‘Tusa’ era or the platinum blonde look that wowed everyone at this year’s Billboard Awards. Karol G’s character has brown hair, but she looks just as fantastic as she did in her previous artistic phases. 

Key Points About Griselda

Before the series premiere, there are some interesting details worth knowing about the series. Firstly, it’s a story based on real events, which is always appealing to the public. Additionally, it’s created by the minds behind Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz. This time, the series shifts the focus away from the male-dominated narratives of those other titles and puts the spotlight on the women who have shaped and are part of the drug trade. 

You should also note that Griselda will have a single season consisting of six episodes and marks Sofia Vergara’s first dramatic role after being one of the most beloved actresses for her iconic character in Modern Family.
