Karol G is unquestionably one of the Latin American artists who have not only brought immense pride to Colombians but to all Latinos. Her relentless dedication over the years has resulted in her new songs consistently claiming top positions on the charts.
In the past years, Karol has demonstrated that through effort, talent, and hard work, she has managed to become one of the biggest stars in the Latin music and a genuine source of inspiration within the American music industry.
In fact, the Colombian artist has the honor of being the first to debut a new Spanish-language studio album at number 1 on the sales chart in the United States. However, achieving this glorious status has not caused her to neglect her more charitable side. Furthermore, this is precisely what the Billboard Latin Music Awards aim to acknowledge.
Karol is set to receive the prestigious Spirit of Hope awards at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards, as announced by Billboard and Telemundo on Thursday, September 14th.
This distinctive award, which is on the brink of celebrating its 30th anniversary, was originally established in 1996 as a tribute to the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla.
It is intended to honor Karol’s exceptional commitment to civic, community, and humanitarian efforts that go beyond her artistic accomplishments, notably through her Con Cora (meaning «with heart») foundation.
I am grateful for this special recognition. My commitment with Con Cora Foundation is a fundamental part of my life and I am proud to be able to help the women who need it most.”
The Colombian artist thus becomes the first to know that she will be receiving an award at the Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony. In this edition, Peso Pluma leads the list of nominees with 21 nominations in 15 different categories, including Artist of the Year, Composer of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year, and Latin Album of the Year.
