Karol G Becomes the Big Winner of 2023 Heat Latin Music Awards: Complete Winner List

Best Urban Artist, Best Video («Mientras me curo del cora») and Best Song («Provenza»). These three awards made Karol G the big winner of the 8th edition of the Heat Awards held in Cap Cana, although she couldn’t be present. These awards recognize renowned and promising artists who are generating excitement in the Caribbean and Latin America.

The Colombian artist was the favorite alongside Feid and Bad Bunny, each with six nominations. They were closely followed by world stars Romeo Santos, El Alfa, Christian Nodal and Bizarrap with four, Maluma, Manuel Turizo, and Chris Lebron with 3 respectively, Arcangel, Marc Anthony, Carlos Vives, Alejandro Fernandez, Danny Ocean, Grupo Firme, Justin Quiles, Piso 21, Quevedo, Kany García, Lasso, Sebastian Yatra and Rosalía with two categories.

The hottest party of Latin music had merengue as the host genre, and it kicked off with Eddy Herrera, Manny Cruz, and Puerto Rican Manny Manuel, who showcased their hits to start the grand celebration.

There was a lot of love, and a great example of that was the couple formed by Jay Wheeler and Zhamira Zambrano. They arrived together as newlyweds and performed «Dícelo». Jay Wheeler also won the award for Best Artist in the North Region and made a request: «Don’t be afraid to fall in love; it’s a beautiful thing. I’m married and I’m very happy.»

Highlights & Homages

Tributes were also paid during the event. Mike Bahía was surprised with a special award called «Lo + Heat» for being part of the Heat family since its inception in 2015. In his acceptance speech, he said, «Today, I realize why life reminds me how beautiful it is to walk together. It wouldn’t make sense if I didn’t have someone to share it with. Love and honor your families always». He was joined on stage by his partner Greeicy and Dekko to perform «Mi Pecadito», «Amantes» and «El Egoísmo».

The other great tribute was dedicated to Grupo Niche for their 43 years of career. Several artists performed their greatest hits. The group said, «This award is and will always be for Jairo Varela, the creator of this iconic band.»

In addition to the established artists, these awards also provide visibility to new promises. This allowed us to see Mar Rendón giving a rock version of «Laura no está» by Nek and Teo, Fanny Lu’s son, singing a mix of two original songs. Additionally, Kunno and Dayanara performed their collaboration «El ganado», Xofi brought some bachata to the stage and Elena Rose performed «Bayamón.»

To close the grand celebration, Anuel AA, who also received a tribute, shared the stage with rapper Yailin La Más Viral, mother of his daughter.
